Video agent for Android monitors the video player in your mobile app, giving you a comprehensive view of your video and ad playback performance. It works for Android apps written using Java or Kotlin.

## Prerequisites

Before you install the Streaming Video & Ads agent for Android, ensure you have:

-   A New Relic [account ID](https://docs.newrelic.com/docs/accounts/accounts-billing/account-setup/account-id)
-   Reviewed the [Android mobile app compatibility requirements](https://docs.newrelic.com/docs/mobile-monitoring/new-relic-mobile-android/get-started/new-relic-android-compatibility-requirements)
-   Reviewed the [Streaming Video & Ads agent compatibility requirements](https://docs.newrelic.com/docs/streaming-video-&-ads/installation/compatibility-requirements)

Determine which installation path applies to you:

-   **New mobile application**: You're adding New Relic to an app for the first time. You'll need to install the [New Relic Android agent](https://docs.newrelic.com/docs/mobile-monitoring/new-relic-mobile-android/get-started/introduction-new-relic-mobile-android) first.
-   **Existing monitored application**: Your app already has the New Relic Android agent installed and is sending data to New Relic.

## Install the agent

1.  Go to **[one.newrelic.com](https://one.newrelic.com) > Integrations & Agents**.
2.  Search and select the **Streaming Video & Ads** tile.
3.  Select **Mobile** and click **Continue**.
4.  Select **Android** to monitor video players in your Android applications and click **Continue**.
5.  Give a name for your application and click **Create**.
6.  Once the application name is created, click **Save and continue**.
7.  Select the instrumentation method that applies to your application:

## Alternative: Guided install

Skip the manual steps above and use the guided installer. Click the **Guided install** button for the US region (default). If your organization is located in a different [data center region](https://docs.newrelic.com/docs/accounts/accounts-billing/account-setup/choose-your-data-center), select the guided install for your region.
